After watching a large number of movies, everyone has problems remembering each one. Long ago were the days where you had them on your DVD and could simply look at your shelf and remember all about your movies. Well, the shelves are now digital...

EMDB (Eric's Movie Database) is a completely free Windows app used to catalog your movies and display information about them. When you open it up for the first time, you'll literally see an empty shelf where you can add new movies. Adding a movie is done simply by searching for its title, selecting it from the list of results, and EMDB does the rest.

It pulls the movie's data from IMDB and displays it for you. You can also edit anything before adding the movie to your shelf. The idea behind the app is that you can create a catalog of movies you have seen or have the intention of seeing. You can mark the movies as Owned or Seen.

Besides IMDB, you can also browse your computer for video files and EMDB tries to recognize them and add them to your catalog. This feature mostly depends on the name of the video file. The app's design is otherwise a bit outdated but it still represents a nice idea. Lastly, you can organize movies into different databases to categorize them, this feature being accessible from the Options window, under Database. Another option is to group or filter a single database to display different sets of movies.
